Luxury means what and to whom exactly? For LOVE Issue 27, we thought long and hard about this and came away with more questions than answers. Surely, there must be something more than this. There has to be, right?
For our first cover, Francesca Albanese, UN special rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territory, welcomes us to Tunisia. In a rare moment of respite she speaks to Tiara Sahar about the US sanctions still levied against her, about how our individual struggles are bound to one another, and about the one luxury none of us can afford. Silence, in the face of abuses of power. Photographed by Ilyes Griyeb. Styled by Julie Ragolia.
For our second cover, Alex Consani and Anok Yai launch a deluxe nanny service unlike any other. In the topsy-turvy spirit of The Simple Life, our supermodels turn supernannies for the day and trade the catwalk for any school run you can throw at them. Photographed by Nick Waplington. Styled by Jahleel Weaver.
For our third cover, Ms. Lauryn Hill, speaks with Connor Garell over email about the young woman she was at 22, the cage she refused to be kept in and what it cost her to feel everything in public with the luxury of hindsight. Photographed by Ryan McGinley. Styled by Marcus Cuffie.
For our fourth cover, Ghali speaks with Valeria Della Valle about the power of his own poetry, about being vocal in the face of injustice and about the new album he is readying for release. Shot at the Vittoriale, D'Annunzio's house of excess on Lake Garda. Photographed by Casper Kofi. Styled by Julian Ganio.
For our fifth cover, Young Miko speaks with Emma Madden about breaking out on the global stage, about finding comfort in herself and about the love she has for her Mikosexuals. She is proof that the most valuable thing an artist can own is an audience that sees itself in her. Photographed by Luke Gilford. Styled by Tati Cotliar.
For our sixth and final cover, the team behind Rockstar Games’ upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI game speaks with Kacion Mayers about their decade of obsessive world building, the research trips that shaped Leonida, and unpack what the American Dream looks like now. In a world this dense, they explain, nobody you meet in GTA VI will be an extra. Artwork featuring Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos by Rockstar Games.
