Noisé 05 – Jeux d’eau (Spring/Summer 2025) draws its name and rhythm from Maurice Ravel’s iconic piano composition, embracing the fluidity, stillness, and quiet force of water. Mirroring the natural currents that shape our inner and outer landscapes, this issue brings together voices and visions that explore transformation across time, memory, and form.

At the heart of the edition is a deep reflection on the legendary gallerist Marian Goodman and her gallery, tracing their near five-decade journey through rare archival material, unseen perspectives, and personal insights into a lasting legacy. Vincent Van Duysen and Julianne Moore reflect on architecture, friendship, and the creative rhythm of life, while Fabien Baron and Alastair McKimm sit down for the first time to exchange thoughts on milestones in their career paths, their latest moves, and the evolving role of magazines.

A special section revisits the intertwined practices of Robert Smithson and Nancy Holt, as seen through the lens of those closest to them.

We step into the studios of artists Hélène Delprat, Nathanaëlle Herbelin, Torkwase Dyson and David Altmejd—each offering a window into the evolving relationship between material, narrative, and artistic impulse. Filmmaker Bennett Miller visits Cai Guo-Qiang in his Frank Gehry–designed studio for a poetic dialogue on their shared experiments with AI. A dedicated whales column gathers voices from marine science, art, and conservation to reflect on these oceanic timekeepers, with newly commissioned artworks echoing the call for care.

This issue also includes a special inserted booklet documenting Helmut Lang’s recent solo exhibition in Los Angeles, photographed by Tang Siyu, and arrives in a custom slipcase featuring a monogrammed N designed by Fabien Baron exclusively for noisé.
