Collection: DRAFT001

Draft001 is an independent publication founded in Paris in 2019 by Shayma Ait. Since its inception, the project has evolved into a travelling platform moving between Paris, London, Amsterdam, Berlin and Lisbon in search of emerging voices, underground scenes and unknown artists shaping contemporary culture from its margins. Published every two years in only 500 copies, each edition functions as both a rare collector’s object and a global archive of international emerging creation, bringing together more than 150 contributors per issue across fashion, art, photography, music and visual culture. Following Big Bang (2021), Parade (2023) and Hors Champs (2025), the fourth issue, The Dream Machine (2026), will launch on June 23rd at Lafayette Anticipations in Paris.

Draft001’s editorial approach focuses on artists caught in the “in-between” of their practice - the fragile and vulnerable moment where a personal language begins to emerge, just before industries reshape creativity into something marketable. Through unpublished works, archives, unfinished images, personal notes, mistakes and spontaneous gestures, the publication questions conventional creative processes while celebrating imperfection, amateurism and experimentation as valuable artistic languages in themselves. Visually dense and intentionally chaotic, the magazine resists polished readability in favour of discovery, mystery and accumulation. Every page is conceived as a layered visual landscape where readers continuously uncover new details each time they return to the object. Rather than documenting trends, Draft001 seeks to preserve the emotional and instinctive energy of creation before it becomes fixed, consumed or institutionalised.

More than a publication, Draft001 operates as an evolving ecosystem connecting artists, communities and disciplines across borders, building an alternative archive of a generation in motion.
